THE AFRICAN REGATTA, and Gamrock ED are charity partners. They have been working together since 2023 to raise funds for various needs such as books, chairs, clothing, medication, and building extensions. Their goal for the upcoming event is to raise at least £500,000. Over the past two years, the Gamrock Ed Team has collaborated with the Gambian police to launch the charity and sailing week. With the support of the Gambian tourist board, they aim to make a significant impact on young people in schools throughout Gambia. Through the generosity of sponsors and funds raised from the Regatta and festival, they also aim to raise global awareness for children living in educational poverty, which exacerbates physical poverty.
GAMROCK ED relies solely on voluntary contributions and donations. Their life-changing work is made possible by the generosity of fundraisers. With support from the REGATTA AND FESTIVAL, more children can receive the help they need in education and have a happy, healthy, and safe life.
Paul and Melissa Richards, directors of Gamrock Ed, is excited to follow the adventures of each sailing crew and express gratitude to them for their participation in this event. It is thanks to the crews and their families’ generous support that GAMROCK ED can continue their work in some of the poorest areas in Gambia, reaching those who are furthest from help, most disadvantaged, and most at risk.
